How has the world you come from shaped your dreams and aspirations? Two words I live by are Tenacity & Gratitude. Tenacity gets you where you want to go and gratitude doesn’t allow you to be angry along the way. I have always had to work twice as hard on my education because I am Dyslexic. My dyslexia is what pushed me forward. Every book I read is a triumph. Spelling is sometimes challenging & math is still difficult. Certainly there are times when I wish I could spell with ease, I wish I could do math in my head, I wish I could learn as quickly as my peers. But, I would not be where I am today if I did not struggle through my learning challenge. With loving and supportive family and friends, I have pushed each obstacle out of my way and have learned the true meaning of self worth.

Of all the ways you could succeed in your life, why have you chosen to succeed in the Miss Auburn Pageant? The Miss Auburn Pageant to me represents poised, powerful and confident women. Being part of this great program would give me the opportunity to bring my cause to a national platform. I am so compassionate about the fragile psyche of children with learning disabilities and know that being part of this great organization will motivate children and truly help them believe that they can achieve anything.

What social issue, other than your platform, will have the greatest impact on your generation and why? Sadly I believe it will be childhood obesity. I recently learned that my generation has been predicted to be the first generation to not outlive their parents. The percentage of overweight children in the United States is growing at an alarming rate, with one out of three kids now considered overweight or obese. Preventing kids from becoming overweight means adapting the way your family eats and exercises, and how you spend time together. I believe very strongly that helping children lead healthy lifestyles begins with parents who lead by example.
