How has the world you come from shaped your dreams and aspirations? I have been raised in an environment where failing is not an option. I was taught to always do my best and by putting forth that attitude excellent results will follow. I have always attempted to strive to do well in school as well as all other extracurricular activities in which I participate. By doing such I am fully equipped and looking forward to achieving success at a university. Being raised to be comfortable with the person I am has also helped me to realize that I can accomplish anything if I put my mind to it.
Of all the ways you could succeed in your life, why have you chosen to succeed in the Miss Auburn Pageant? The Miss Auburn Pageant emphasizes a young woman’s education and has faith that she can excel in any and all higher education she wishes to pursue. I believe that through the Miss Auburn Pageant, I have the unique opportunity to interact with outstanding citizens of our community while also raising awareness on a subject matter that has truly touched my life. The platform statement that each contestant has to present is something that I respect about the pageant. The main reason I wanted to be involved in this local pageant, was that, not only do we have the opportunity to raise scholarship money, but that we also get to actually make a difference on our own personal platform.
What social issue, other than your platform, will have the greatest impact on your generation and why? The social issue that will have the greatest impact on my generation is that people believe they can take on a whole new persona by simply being on the internet. People of my generation have taken the internet and used it in cruel ways. All around the country teenagers have committed suicide or attempted to solely due to cyber bullying. Those who are the instigators of this action believe that since they are on the web they do not have to take responsibility for what they say or how they harass others. Some states have made cyber bullying illegal, but that isn’t enough. This law must be taken to the federal level to save lives. It will express to anyone on the internet, especially teens that it is not tolerable to damage a person simply because they are online and feel as if they have a border between them and the person they are intentionally harming.
